Art Portfolio

Description:

Welcome to my art portfolio, a journey through self-image and the beauty of the induplicable. Each medium—silk painting, oil painting, sculpture, and monoprinting—captures a different layer of identity, exploring moments that make us unique and irreplaceable.

In silk painting, I express the fluid, shifting nature of memory and emotion. Oil painting brings depth and texture, grounding reflections of self in rich, tactile layers. Sculpture gives identity a physical form, while monoprinting captures spontaneity, marking each impression as one-of-a-kind. Together, these works tell a story of individuality—of what it means to be both distinct and deeply connected.

The Grace of Tradition

Medium: Traditional Silk Painting

Silk, with its delicate texture and luminous quality, serves as a powerful metaphor for my emotional journey. I’m drawn to the soothing process of painting and washing the silk canvas, where each layer of dye reflects my self-discovery. Just as silk absorbs color, it captures my emotions, transforming them into a visual narrative that reveals the beauty in vulnerability - each brushstroke contributes to the intricate tapestry of life.

This painting captures the traditional beauty and softness of Vietnamese women adorned in elegant costumes, embodying the timeless grace that has shaped the cultural landscape of Vietnam.

In this piece, a resting working man takes a moment to breathe and reconnect with himself while selling traditional “nón lá” from his bicycle. This portrayal symbolizes not just the craftsmanship of Vietnamese artisans but also the importance of slowing down and embracing life’s simple moments amidst the bustling rhythms of daily life in Hanoi.

A Peaceful Corner of Hanoi

Moving away from specific individuals, this painting dwells on the serene scenarios and interactions that define modern-day Hanoi, capturing the essence of social support and connection in a peaceful corner of the city.

The Duality of Self

Medium: Sculpture

Sculpture offers a tangible exploration of self-image and perception. Its three-dimensional forms invite reflection, with each contour symbolizing the quest for identity balance. Through the physicality of the medium, I bridge the gap between perception and reality, discovering that every curve and line reveals a story of resilience and the intrinsic need for harmony within oneself.

This portrait of a girl symbolizes self-image and the intrinsic human desire for symmetry, reflecting the principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) by transforming perception into reality. The three-dimensional form invites viewers to engage physically, allowing them to hold and mold it with their hands, emphasizing the tangible connection between self-perception and one’s true self.

Unity in Diversity

Medium: Oil Painting

The oil painting portrays four ballerinas from diverse backgrounds in a unified pose, symbolizing empathy and equality. Each brushstroke highlights their shared experience, celebrating the connections that enrich our humanity.

In this dynamic piece, four ballerinas from different races perform a unified pose, celebrating empathy, equality, and the beauty of human interaction across cultures, inviting viewers to embrace our shared humanity.

Timeless Connections

Medium: Mono Printing

Monoprinting is a unique printmaking technique where ink is applied to a smooth surface, such as glass or metal, and then transferred to paper, often using a press or hand pressure. This process captures textures, brushstrokes, and patterns that cannot be exactly replicated, making each print inimitable and truly one-of-a-kind.

One leaf, reimagined through three distinct prints—each a reflection of self-image, capturing the beauty in evolving perspectives. With every press, the leaf’s form reveals new textures, colors, and stories, mirroring the journey of self-expression. An unrepeatable reminder that, like us, nature holds endless ways to be seen.
