This research paper explores the role of art-inspired experiences in fostering self-expression and self-exploration among participants, drawing parallels to principles of art therapy. Two experiments were conducted to examine the impact of various artistic mediums on emotional engagement and personal reflection. The first experiment utilized silk painting, creating a supportive atmosphere for individuals to explore their emotions. While participants reported feelings of relaxation and self-discovery, the findings indicated a need for deeper emotional connection and engagement. The second experiment incorporated a multi-sensory approach, blending silk painting with scent and The Circle Way method, significantly enhancing emotional experiences and facilitating stronger connections among participants. Analysis of the interview revealed that the multi-sensory environment promoted emotional regulation and identity exploration more effectively than the singular medium. Additionally, preferences for group sizes emerged, with participants favoring larger groups for a sense of community and smaller groups for more intimate verbal expression. Overall, the study highlights the potential of art-inspired experiences as a powerful tool for personal growth and emotional exploration, underscoring the importance of facilitation in enhancing participants’ engagement and connection to themselves and others.
